Istanbul Airport is located on the European side of Istanbul, in the district
of Arnavutköy. It is the biggest airport found in in Europe. Even though it is not located in the middle of the city, the airport is still in close proximity to the city center, being only 35 kilometers away. You can reach the city center in around 1,5 hours of time, however, depending on the traffic the time spent may either increase or decrease. You can take a taxi to the city center from the new Istanbul Airport, you can get on Havaist busses specially designed for the Istanbul Airport for only 18 TL, you can also use the subway which will be connected to the airport soon. Istanbul Airport also offers the best VIP treatment when the two airports are compared if that is a criterion that is important to you.
Sabiha Gokcen Airport is a relatively old airport which is not as popular among the tourists as the Istanbul Airport. Sabiha Gokcen Airport is located on the Asian side of Istanbul. The only ways to reach the city center from this particular airport is to either take a taxi or to get onto Havabus which are special busses found in the airport. The time it takes to reach the city center is again around 1,5 hours which may change according to the traffic. Thus, in terms of time, neither of the options is better or worse than the other one.
